Nomad Sustainability

Nomad Beach Resort has its own ‘Green Team’, led by a dedicated Sustainability Manager, to develop a host of environmentally conscious projects that adhere to The Sands’ Thinking Green Philosophy. The Sands is also home to a special turtle hatchery, built in partnership with the local Diani Turtle Watch. It also has a five-acre organic farm.

The Nomad Farm

The Nomad farm uses the guiding principles of permaculture farming to harvest fresh fruit, vegetables, herbs and spices for the Nomad restaurant. Free-range chickens fed on organic vegetable waste also produce delicious eggs. Raised growing beds sit on shallow soil and coral, created using homemade organic compost comprised of restaurant waste and organic material.

Thinking Green

A paper and plastics initiative to recycle, upcycle and reduce plastic waste in our oceans is a hallmark of the Thinking Green Philosophy.

Decorations made from recycled glass and plastic adorn parts of the hotel while the Nomad restaurant uses only biodegradable paper straws.

Protecting our wildlife

Nomad Beach Resort works closely with local conservation partners to help protect the local environment and wildlife. Through working closely with local schools the Diani Turtle Watch at Nomad has introduced the importance of conservation to hundreds of local schoolchildren and their teachers.

Many projects run through Nomad also feed into wider conservation efforts that to protect the fragile African coastline.
